BC DAY WEEKEND: Great Painters Challenge

Celebrate the upcoming BC Day weekend in Fort Langley. On Sunday August 5 watch 12 BC artists compete for the HSBC Gold Medal at the Birthplace of B.C. Gallery.

Easels will be loaded with blank canvasses at high noon. At the sound of the starting pistol, brushes will be drawn and painting begins. The artists will have until 3 pm to complete their masterpieces and prepare for judging.
A jury of 10 art collectors will select the top three paintings and at 4 pm present their creators with: the Gold Medal sponsored by HSBC Bank Langley Canada Branch; the Silver Medal, sponsored by Eric Woodward; and the Bronze Medal, sponsored by National Bank Financial (Brendan Murray).

All paintings created in the Great Painters Challenge will be on display at the Birthplace of B.C. Gallery. The “Peoples Choice Award” sponsored by Classic Gallery Framing will be decided by the voting public. Artists competing in the Great Painters Challenge include Alan Wylie, Allan Hancock, Amanda Jones, Brent Heighton, Carmel Clare, Dianna Ponting, Heidi Lambert, Jack Turpin, Janice Robertson, Joyce Trygg, Linda Muttitt, Lyle Longstaff and Perry Haddock.

The Hard Times Blue Grass Band performs from 3 to 4:30 pm.
