PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD: Brent Heighton painting wins again

Brent Heighton’s Gold Medal painting also received the People’s Choice Award

After being awarded the HSBC Gold Medal on Sunday in the Great Painters Challenge, Brent Heighton’s painting also was the People’s Choice in balloting held Sunday and Monday. In addition to the $1,000 awarded with the Gold Medal, his win of the People’s Choice Award came with a $500 framing certificate sponsored by Classic Gallery Framing. Perry Haddock’s painting was the runner-up in the People’s Choice voting. The jury of ten art collectors that selected Heighton for the Gold Medal, chose paintings by Alan Wylie for the Silver Medal (sponsored by Eric Woodward) and Allan Hancock for the Bronze Medal (sponsored by National Bank Financial – Brendan Murray). The Great Painters Challenge was part of this year’s “Demos in the Garden” at the Birthplace of B.C. Gallery on Aug 5 and 6, 2012. Come to the Gallery to see the show of all thirteen paintings created in the three hour “paint-off” competition. Other artists included Amanda Jones, Carmel Clare, Dianna Ponting, Heidi Lambert, Jack Turpin, Janice Robertson, Joyce Trygg, Linda Muttitt, and Lyle Longstaff.
