FORT LANGLEY: Arrival of the fur brigades

Celebrate BC Day weekend in historic Fort Langley

Spend the weekend in Fort Langley and enjoy the BC Day festivities. At the National Historic Site join Hudson Bay Company workers, Aboriginal traders and trappers as they swap stories, play music, and show off traditional skills like carding and spinning wool, making bullets, and open fire cooking. The weekend features a large period encampment, Beaver Tales Theatre performances on Sunday, and the “Arrival of the Fur Brigades” canoe re-enactment at 1 pm Monday, August 1. Stay for the free concert at 6 pm on Monday featuring “Swing Patrol” and “Langley Community Music School Fiddlers.” Bring a picnic (or order one from our Full Barrel Café) and a chair or blanket and enjoy the show. Remember to stop by the Birthplace of B.C. Gallery for the annual demos in the garden on Sunday and Monday (July 31 and Aug 1, 2011) from 11 am to 4 pm both days.
